Adhesive tape and adhesive tape are used to secure cargo, label, reinforce the bottom of boxes, and solve many other tasks when moving. However, after unpacking, hard-to-remove traces of rubber, which is part of the adhesive tape of the adhesive tape, sometimes remain on the surface of things, furniture and the floor. We will tell you how to remove them without consequences for the surface to be cleaned.
1. Dissolve the adhesive layer with sunflower oil. In about 5 minutes, sunflower oil dissolves the adhesive that is part of the adhesive tape. Sometimes it may take more time. If the surface is vertical, then you can attach a rag or napkin moistened with vegetable oil.
2. Tear off the Velcro in one motion. This is the ideal way to remove a sticker whose adhesive has not had time to dry (up to 2-3 days after gluing). Not suitable for dry tape, especially on painted surfaces.
3. Scrape. From the floor, moldings and most decorative coatings, adhesive residue can be gently removed with a spatula, and from stone, mirror and scratch-resistant surfaces – with an ordinary blade.
4. Wipe off with warm soapy water. It will soften the tape, allowing you to remove it without a trace of glue with a sponge or cloth. The method is suitable for plastic, acrylic, plaster, asphalt, copper, enamel, glass, linoleum, plastic, marble, tin, plexiglass and vinyl materials.
5. Heat up. The heat helps melt the toughest adhesive without harming the surface. Just a minute of work with a hair dryer, and you can easily remove stains of even double-sided tape or construction adhesive. The main thing is to remove them while the surface to be cleaned is warm.
6. Clean with a soft brush. It is safest to remove traces of adhesive tape from stone, brick, concrete, granite, limestone or tile using a paste of washing powder or baking soda with a little water. After cleaning, rinse the mixture from the surface with clean warm water.
7. Alcohol to the rescue. Try rubbing the sticky spots with rubbing alcohol or acetone (nail polish remover will also work), the adhesive residue will lose adhesion. But be careful – these substances can damage painted surfaces.
8. Use a sticker remover. If none of the above methods work, use a special cleaner. It softens the glue and helps to easily remove all traces of adhesive tape. Glutoclean, KANGAROO, Goo Gone, Goof Off, ABRO, etc. are considered reliable. The average price of “anti-scotch” is 400-500 rubles.
9. Use WD-40. Moisten a heavily textured cloth, such as a terry cloth, with WD-40 and wipe off any excess adhesive. After that, wash off the remaining grease with soapy water and dry the clean surface.
First test the effect of any agent on an inconspicuous place to make sure that it does not harm the material. Especially true for wood, plexiglass, painted and glossy surfaces. Some compounds make the surface dull or discolor, therefore, require dilution with dishwashing detergent.
